Charitable Organization dedicated to assisting Canadians who are blind or visually impaired.
Personal Experience:
Very supportive team who aid children and adults alike with vision loss, and dealing with loss of sight, including technological resources, personal assistants and counsellors. Many of those working at CNIB also have loved ones and personal experience with vision loss. Programs include annual summer camps for children, as well as a recently opened CNIB Extension HUB at 1525 Yonge Street.

Internationally-renowned children's hospital, being the second-largest paediatric research hospital in the world.
Personal Experience:
Incredible team of dedicated doctors and surgeons who work around the clock to diagnose and treat young children. Dr Andrew Budning from this hospital treated me during my childhood cataracts period, and I was lucky to have benefited from his treatment and procedures.

Fantastic clinic that specializes in glasses for low-vision patients with a history of ocular conditions.
Personal Experience:
Have always had nothing but great things to say about this clinic and their doctors. I have been through their roster of rotating optometrists, from Dr Peter Shaw, Dr Henry Wong, to currently Dr Angela Yoon. Each have consistently been more than helpful, efficient, professional, encouraging, and always reliable. With my aphakia condition (absence of lens in my eyes), I needed extremely high prescription glasses costing well over $1000 especially made and shipped from Germany. They arranged all that, including government funding - the ADP (Assistive Devices Program) that covered most of the costs. This clinic remains to be one that I have always been grateful for.

Clinic that specializes in the molding, crafting, and creation of ocular prosthetics for those with damaged, missing eyes, or who have gone through ocular evisceration or enucleation procedures.

Personal Experience:
The staff here have always been courteous, friendly, and efficient in all aspects. Professional, kind, and very clean clinic that provides the best ocular prosthetic procedures in the city. The main ocularist, Michael Webb, is a wonderfully reassuring and supportive professional. I was very happy with my visits and results from Webb Ocular.
Also: free coffee! :) And nice leather seats with big screen TV's. Nice touch.

The biggest and the best ophthalmology clinic in the country.
Personal Experience:
I have spent most of my teenage years here, with well over a dozen surgical procedures in both eyes, countless hospital visits, and over twenty emergency room visits for my eyes. If you have an ocular emergency, make sure you go to the Emergency Room at Toronto Western - they always have an ophthalmologist on call 24/7, and takes ocular emergencies, painful symptoms, and retinal detachments very seriously.
The ocular department (Donald K. Johnson Eye Institute) is located on the sixth floor, with specialists for every part of the eye. I have been seen there by Dr Wai-Ching Lam (retinal detachment), Dr Allan Slomovic (corneal transplant), Dr Peng Yan (retinal detachment), and Dr Graham Trope (glaucoma). I remain grateful and convinced these doctors are the best in the city, if not country and they have changed my life and saved my vision countless times. Wait times can be 3-5 hours for the number of special cases they are seeing - patients from Montreal regularly drive to TWH to see the ophthalmologists here.
